The euro fell to 14-month lows against the dollar on Thursday after the European

Central Bank cut interest rates across the euro zone and said it was launching an assetbackedsecurities program in an attempt to stave of slowing growth and inflation.

The GBP/USD is performing a bounce from 1.6400 area as the pair is now trading at

1.6430.

The European markets have opened - but are scarcely breathing. The FTSE 100 is

down 6 points at 6872. Frankfurt's Dax is up 14 at 9739 and the Cac 40 is up - but

hasn't even notched a full point's gain. It's 0.39 of a point higher at 4495. The pound is

flat against the dollar at $1.6324 and is at 1.2619 euros. The dollar has lost a little of

yesterday's gains against the euro and one euro buys $1.2935. The operator of an exchange for the virtual currency Bitcoin pleads guilty in New York to running an unlicensed money transmitting business.
